I
decided to be a school teacher in high school when I applied and
won the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship. Initially I was a high
school major, but after one year I changed my major to elementary
ed. I graduated from UNCW in 1999 and started teaching 5th grade
in Raleigh.
After 2 years I returned to Wilmington and taught 5th grade until
2004. That year I finally found my home at CFCI. This will be my
8th year teaching here.
Since joining CFCI I’ve earned my Master’s (2005), my National Board’s
(2007), serve on the Board of Directors, am a mentor teacher, and
a Partnership teacher for UNCW interns.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, walking, spending time with
my family, and playing with my wonder dog Fontana.
