A
graduate of the University of Maryland, Mrs. Johnsen obtained her
MEd and EdS degrees from the University of West Georgia in Carrolton,
GA with dual areas of licensure in Learning Disabilities and Severe
Emotional Disturbance. Her background includes 10 years in the administration
and supervision of programs for students with disabilities. Before
relocating to Southport with her husband, she served as the Coordinator
of the Exceptional Education Department for a large school district
in South Carolina. A trainer and speaker focusing on best practices
in the instruction of children with disabilities, she also serves
as a Senior Trainer with Life Space Crisis Intervention and a Training
Associate with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness.
Mrs. Johnsen has two
grown sons, loves to spend time working with children and youth
in her church and enjoys time traveling and exploring new and different
places. Committed to serving the needs of children with disabilities,
her primary focus will always be early intervention and prevention
efforts to maximize the education of all children.
