| Pauline
Piner taught in Indiana for two years as an Exceptional Children’s
teacher before accepting a teaching position at Camp LeJeune Dependents’
School in 1988. Since then she has taught in New Hanover County
Schools as well as Cape Fear Academy. She became trained in the
Orton-Gillingham method and became a member of the North Carolina
Board of International Dyslexia Association for three years. During
this time, she tutored numerous individuals ranging from K-adult
using the Orton method. She also served on the Advisory Board for
Educators Publishing Services, an educational magazine that promotes
materials using the Orton approach. In addition to teaching, Pauline
has conducted workshops for home-schooling parents and has assisted
young mothers and their at-risk infants/toddlers in the surrounding
communities.
Pauline is currently
teaching at CFCI as an Exceptional Children’s teacher for grades
K-8. She is proud to be part of a school that has dedicated and
passionate teachers who help build a loving and caring environment.
