Shannon Shanks is the teaching assistant for Mrs. Brinkley and Mrs. Hair. She attended Old Dominion University where she recieved a Master's Degree in Elementary/ Middle School Education in 1995. Shannon taught 6th grade Language Arts and Reading for 5 years and spent one year teaching Language Arts and corrective reading to 8th graders at Peasley Middle School in Gloucester, Virginia. She was also the Reading Specialist, SRA Corrective Reading educator trainer for her county, and the Accelarated Reader trainer for the school.

Although Shannon loved teaching, she decided to leave the profession and stay home to raise her two daughters, both of whom are students at CFCI. Regan is in 5th grade and Eryn is in 3rd. For the past several years, Shannon has volunteered to work with reading groups and for contract time in grades 1-3. She is so excited to now be a daily part of the CFCI community and to be back in the classroom working with young readers and learners!!
